Bradenton, FL (93.7 The Fan) - Another pitcher with major league experience is joining the Pirates.  Righthander Rookie Davis, whose only win in the majors came over the Pirates while with the Reds in 2017, agreed to a minor league contract with an invitation to major league spring training.

Davis, 25, became a free agent following the season after Cincinnati had removed him from the 40-man roster.  He missed most of 2018 as he recovered from hip surgery.  Originally drafted by the Yankees, Davis was part of the trade that sent Aroldis Chapman from Cincinnati to New York in 2015.  He is 1-3 with an 8.63 ERA in seven major league games.  He beat the Pirates in May, 2017, pitching five scoreless innings.

Davis, whose given first name is William, had been connected to the Pirates in recent days.  Clint Hurdle did not mention the signing when asked after the first full-squad workout if there was any news to report.
