Riverhounds SC Clinch Playoff Berth With 2-0 Win Over Penn FC

The Hounds also capture 3rd Keystone Derby Cup

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC clinched their first playoff berth since 2015 with a 2-0 win against Penn FC Wednesday night at FNB Field in Harrisburg.

With the win, the Hounds also won its third Keystone Derby Cup.

Striker Kay Banjo scored in the 38th minute to give the Hounds a 1-0 lead and defender Andrew Lubahn made it 2-0 in second-half stoppage.

“We knew it wouldn’t be easy,” head coach Bob Lilley said. “They’re a good team. They created some good moments, but I thought overall our defending was good. I thought we created some dangerous moments on the road.”

With the win the Sounds improve to 15-4-11 on the season and have shut out Penn FC in their past six meetings.

The Hounds next head to Charlotte to play the Independence Saturday at 7 p.m. No one has tallied a goal in two meetings so far between the teams.
