Steelers Make No Trades

Tomlin says 'we believe in homegrown talent'

PITTSBURGH (93.7 the Fan) – While their division rival made a move, the Steelers decided to make not trades before the 4 o’clock NFL trade deadline on Tuesday.

“We believe in homegrown talent,” said head coach Mike Tomlin at his news conference three hours before the deadline.  “We invest time and resources into the development of players.  Players buy into what we are selling and work their tails off to improve and to be reasons why we are successful.”

Baltimore added tailback Ty Montgomery from the Green Bay Packers for a seventh round draft pick.  Montgomery has 105 yards and a touchdown rushing and 15 receptions for 170 yards.

“I think it’s difficult to walk away from relationships when people are invested,” Tomlin said.  “We are invested.  The players are invested.  It is what it is.”
