Pre-Season Poll Has Pitt Finishing 4th In ACC Coastal Division

PITTSBURGH (93.7 the Fan) – The defending ACC Coastal Division champion Pitt Panthers were not selected high as the conference released its preseason football poll Monday.

Pitt picked to finish fourth in the division.

Virginia, with 82 first place votes and 1,003 points overall is favored to win it followed by Miami (55/992), Virginia Tech (20, 827) and the Panthers (8, 691) with Duke, North Carolina and Georgia Tech rounding out the division.

Clemson was picked on all but two ballots to win the Atlantic Division followed by Syracuse, Florida State and North Carolina State.

The Panthers return 11 starters from last year’s team including national watch list players Damar Hamlin and Jimmy Morrissey.

The first game of the season is against the pre-season favorite Cavaliers, August 31 at Heinz Field.
