If you've ever tweeted or even thought about the NFL, there's a very good chance that you're blocked by Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger on Twitter, even if you've never directly interacted with him.

Why the two-time Super Bowl Champion's verified account (@_BigBen7) blocks so many accounts is unknown. We may sooner know how many licks it takes to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop. The fact that Roethlisberger apparently doesn't run the account makes it even stranger that so many are blocked. From here, it seems strange to have a Twitter account under your name - maybe unless you are a politician - if you don't actually run it yourself.

In any event, rather than explaining why so many people were blocked by someone that Roethlisberger employs to run his Twitter account, Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk is reporting that the quarterback's team is in the process of rectifying the situation and unblocking those that have been blocked.

Roethlisberger, 38, missed a majority of the 2019 season after having season-ending elbow surgery in September. After acquiring safety Minkah Fitzpatrick from the Miami Dolphins, the Steelers rode an elite defense to an 8-8 record in 2019, despite sub-par quarterback play from the duo of Mason Rudolph and Duck Hodges. If the future Hall of Famer is still able to play at a high level in 2020, the Steelers theoretically could contend in a crowded AFC North. Roethlisberger, who has been the Steelers' starting quarterback since 2004, is under contract through the 2021 season.
