The Cleveland Browns made defensive end Myles Garrett the No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. Over the past two seasons, Garrett has become one of the most explosive defensive players in the NFL, as he has 24.5 sacks since the start of the 2018 season.

But it's going to be a long-time before you see the 23-year-old edge rusher on an NFL field again.

Friday, the NFL suspended Garrett indefinitely, with ESPN's Adam Schefter saying that means at least the six remaining games on the Browns regular season schedule and any potential playoff games.

After getting tangled up with Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph on the ground late in the fourth quarter of the Browns 21-7 win Thursday, Rudolph initially reached to take off Garrett's helmet. Ultimately, Garret ripped off Rudolph's helmet and hit him over the head with it when Rudolph stood up and came after him:

In a statement to Schefter, Browns owners Dee and Jimmy Halam condemned the actions of Garrett.

"We are extremely disappointed in what transpired last evening at the end of our game. There is no place for that in football and that is not reflective of the core values we strive for as an organization. We sincerely apologize to Mason Rudolph and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Myles Garrett has been a good teammate and member of our organization and community for the last three years, but his actions last night were completely unacceptable. We understand the consequences from the league for his actions."

Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey received a three-game suspension for his role in the incident, per Schefter. Rudolph will be fined an undisclosed amount, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. Additionally, Browns defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi will be suspended for a game as well. Both organizations were also fined $250,000.

The Steelers will host the Browns on Dec. 1.
