Patrick Mahomes broke the Madden Curse. Lamar Jackson can bury it once and for all.

Jackson, the Ravens' All-Pro quarterback and the NFL MVP in 2019-20, said he will grace the cover of the next installment in the long-running smash-hit Madden NFL gaming franchise.

Jackson confirmed the news in a video posted by the Ravens.

As for the vaunted Madden curse -- the so-called bad luck conferred on many star players who have fallen prey to injury or decline after appearing on the cover -- Jackson said he's not concerned about it.

"I'm not worried about a curse," Jackson said. "Patrick Mahomes was on the front, and he won MVP. So I will avoid that curse."

Madden NFL -- named for late legendary coach and analyst John Madden, who lent both his name and voice to the games -- has sold well north of 100 million copies since its inception in the late 1980s, reportedly surpassing that mark back in 2013.

A generation of young NFL fans have grown up playing the games, produced by EA Sports, throughout the 1990s and into the present -- spanning from second-generation home platforms like Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis to today's Xboxes.
