The Utah Jazz appear to be the NBA's patient zero with regards to the coronavirus pandemic.

All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell has tested positive, joining Jazz teammate Rudy Gobert, while a Deseret News reporter assigned to cover the team, Sarah Todd, was quarantined for precautionary purposes.

Mitchell confirmed the diagnosis on Thursday:

The NBA suspended all games indefinitely on Wednesday night, prompted in part by the postponement of the Jazz-Thunder game in Oklahoma City after several Jazz players reported feeling unwell prior to tip-off. The teams retreated to their locker rooms and fans were sent home, in one of several such eerie scenes that underscored the escalating seriousness of the pandemic in the US in recent days.

Earlier in the week, video circulated of Gobert jokingly going out of his way to touch reporters' microphones after the NBA implemented new policies for keeping players separated from media members in an effort to curb the spread of the virus.

Gobert apologized over the episode, and said he would use his experience as a way to educate others on preventing the spread of the virus.

Appearing on Scal And Pals, Todd detailed her surreal experience and defended Gobert from backlash on social media, saying Gobert isn't a "malicious" person and it'd be hasty to say exactly how the virus had spread within the Jazz locker room.
