PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - According to a report, it’s not looking like James Conner is going to play Sunday when the Rams come to Heinz Field.

The Post-Gazette’s Gerry Dulac says that Conner is “not expected to play Sunday against the LA Rams.”

Conner was limited in practice on Tuesday with his AC joint strain.

If Conner is out Jaylen Samuels will once again lead the run game with Trey Edmunds.

The All-Pro running back was injured late during the Week 8 victory against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Conner said on his radio show on The Fan Monday that his goal was to play against the Rams but he wasn’t going to rush it.

"Reaching across my body and being extended, I do a lot more than just hold the football.  For me to be my best out there, I want to have the strength and range of motion, so it just takes time and I'm making great progress.  I attacked rehab earlier today."

We asked James what he's looking at this week then as he strives to get back on the field.

"It's going to be the same thing every week.  Hopefully when I go to sleep, I wake up and hope I feel a little better...I don't like missing games at all."
