PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - According to Fan Pirates Insider Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Bucs new president will be former Penguins chief operating officer Travis Williams.

While he is currently working as president of business operations for the New York Islanders, Williams spent 11 years with the Penguins, eight of those as COO, until leaving last November.

The Pirates announced Wednesday morning that they were parting ways with Coonelly after 12 seasons with the team.

Coonelly’s replacement will officially be announced Monday.

Mackey adds that Williams will most likely be more involved in the business side of the team instead of  day-to-day baseball operations.

Mackey joined The PM Team with Andrew Fillipponi and Chris Mueller to share more insight on the reported new hire.

"In my interactions with Travis, he's very confident, he;s very likable, again, people around the Penguins, you're not going to find very many, if any, who will say a bad word about the guy.  He works his tail off.  Really, really, just absurdly smart and he commands respect, you know when he walks around that he means business."
