Pirates Deal Nova To White Sox

Bucs get 19-year-old RHP Yordi Rosario and  $500,000 in international slot money.

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – In a move made at the MLB Winter Meetings, the Pirates have reached a deal with the White Sox that will send RHP Ivan Nova to Chicago for 19-year-old RHP Yordi Rosario and  $500,000 in international slot money.

Rosario had a record of 1-4 with a 2.57 ERA with 70 strikeouts in 14 appearances (11 starts) last season between the Dominican Summer League White Sox and Arizona League White Sox

The 31-year-old Nova had an ERA of 4.19 in 29 starts for the Bucs in 2018 with 114 strikeouts and 35 walks.

Nova will be a free agent at the end of next season and is expected to make around $9 million in 2019.
