PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - Steelers insider Ed Bouchette as well as the NFL Network report that the Pittsburgh Steelers are set to hire North Carolina State coach Eddie Faulkner as their new running backs coach.

According to his bio on N.C. State's site, Faulkner played football for Wisconsin from 1996-2000, winning two big ten championships. In 2002, he was the RB coach at Anderson University before moving onto Ball State from 2003-2010. There he served as the RB/special teams coach and was the interim head coach at the end of the 2010 season.

In 2011, Faulkner began a one-year stint at Northern Illinois before returning to his alma mater as the tight ends coach.

In 2013, he began his career at N.C. State as the tight ends/fullbacks/special team coordinator.

At NC State, Faulkner coached current-Steelers Jaylen Samuels.

This new hire comes after the Steelers decided not to renew James Saxon's contract
