After getting a pair of safeties in last weekend’s NFL Draft, the Steelers released veteran J.J. Wilcox.

The 27-year-old from Georgia played in a dozen games with the Steelers last year with one start, one interception and 12 tackles.  Wilcox was acquired from Tampa Bay in trade last year after four seasons with Dallas.

According to overthecap.com, Wilcox was scheduled to make 3.125 million this year, which would have made him the fifth highest pair player on the entire Steelers defense.

Wilcox has 226 career tackles and 6 interceptions in 70 career games.
