Pittsburgh (93.7 The Fan) - Sidney Crosby's work ethic and dedication to hockey are unmatched across the NHL.  It's no surprise then that the Pittsburgh Penguins captain hopes to be back playing soon, but at the same time understands the gravity of the coronavirus crisis.

"Like everyone else, I'm just tryng to do what's recommended and stay patient," Crosby said.  "I'm trying to make the best of it and do what we can do to get through."

A rink rat who has a difficult time staying off the ice in the best of times, Crosby has had to find other means to occupy his time and stay in shape.

"You make the best with what you have and try to be professional as best we can and make sure we're in the best shape we possibly can be in given the situation.  There's nothing like skating.  You just have to make the best of it."

It was no surprise that the NHL included Crosby among a small of group of players made available to the media this week.  League officials had to be pleased with the message that he delivered..

"You know seeing everyone taking this seriously and doing what they need to do, not only for their own health but for people around them, that's really the key part of all this."

And he appealed for everyone to do their part in trying to bring an end to the spread of the virus.

"If a big chunk of of people do it and others don't, then we're not going to be much accomplished.  Stay healthy and stay safe."
