(93.7 The Fan) - Almost everyone is predicting that retired Steelers safety Troy Polamalu will be selected to the Hall of Fame the day before the Super Bowl on Saturday, but we may have gotten a spoiler alert on Thursday night.

On Thursday David Baker, the president and CEO of the Pro Football Hall of Fame presented Polamalu’s sons with commemorative Hall of Fame pins.

Baker asked the boys if they promise to wear the pins every day, and both of them said they would.

Polamalu  with the 14 other modern-era finalists gathered on Thursday evening to meet with each other as well as with members of the centennial slate enshrines, which includes former Steelers coach Bill Cowher.

Another Steeler among the 15 finalists, guard Alan Faneca said it’s a special honor to even be considered and was really excited when he heard Cowher was selected.

“I think I belted out something loud because I thought David (Baker) was just on there doing a little promo for the hall and then all the sudden he turned to coach and I let out a holy...,” said Faneca.

Faneca added he can’t put into words what it would mean to be selected to the Hall of Fame and that it would be something special for him and his family.

Faneca is a finalist for the 5th straight year, Polamalu is in his 1st.

Safety Donnie Shell will also be enshrined in Canton as a member of the Centennial Class.
