PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - Sources told Rob Biertempfel and Stephen Nesbitt of The Athletic Saturday morning that Shortstop Cole Tucker and Outfielder Bryan Reynolds have joined the Pirates in Pittsburgh this morning.

Tucker and Reynolds received the call from Indianapolis Manager Brian Esposito late last night after their game against Louisville.

"I just got home from dinner and I got a call from Espo and I had some choice words I can't say on camera," said Tucker. "I was basically saying like dude, don't mess with me, don't mess with me. (Esposito was like) "I really want to mess with you, but I'm not going to, I've been wanting to make this phone call since I was your Low-A Manager and I just want to shoot you straight, you're going to the big leagues, you're going to start at shortstop tomorrow.""

Reynolds was a little more relaxed when he got the call that he was joining the Pirates in Pittsburgh.

"I was laying in bed and I heard the phone ring and it was the manager in Indianapolis," said Reynolds. "I was pretty excited and it was pretty surreal."

Tucker and Reynolds ran into each other in the clubhouse at Indianapolis and that was when they realized they both got the call to join the Pirates this weekend in Pittsburgh.

"I was there with my mom and my uncle just ready to pack up my AAA locker which is an odd, crazy, insane to do and he (Reynolds) showed up with his wife there," said Tucker. "Me, being super introverted like I am, I was jumping up and down, dancing, taking my shirt off being an idiot. And Reynolds was just like "yeah, I'm going to the big leagues". It was complete polar opposite reactions, but he's obviously really excited, I'm really excited, we just showed it in different ways. But, it was a really cool moment to share with a teammate and someone who I've roomed with in Spring Training and just someone who is a really good player and who's also going to add value to this team."

Tucker will get the start at Shortstop and Reynolds in Centerfield Saturday afternoon at PNC Park against the San Francisco Giants.

Through 15 games with AAA Indianapolis, Reynolds is hitting .367 with 5 home runs and 11 RBI. While Tucker is hitting .333 with 3 home runs and 7 RBI in 13 games with the Indians.

These reported moves come a day after Starling Marte and Erik Gonzalez collided while both going for a flyball in the 8th inning Friday night against the Giants at PNC Park.
