CLEVELAND (93.7 The Fan) - Starling Marte was hit in the back of the hand by a pitch in the top of the 1st inning Wednesday during the finale against the Indians in Cleveland.

He stayed in the game to run the bases but was thrown out diving feet first while attempting to steal second base.

He did not take the field for the bottom of the first and was replaced in center field by Adam Frazier, who was recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis. To make room for Frazier, pitcher Casey Sadler was sent down.

Marte’s hitting streak was has not been broken; it cannot end by being hit by a pitch.
