LATROBE (93.7 the Fan) - Minutes before the Steelers were to practice at St. Vincent College on Monday, the air was not filled with footballs, rather raindrops and lightning.  The team moved the workout back an hour and were prophetic; a full, mostly dry practice on the artificial turf field near Chuck Noll Field.

“I thought it reflected often time the nature of the journey,” said head coach Mike Tomlin.  “Sometimes on a game day we might get lightning or something.  We might be in the locker room for an extended period of time.  We have to deal with the unforeseen.”

“You can’t lose your energy, when you get an opportunity to get back on the grass.  You got to bring it.  From that standpoint, I liked what I saw today.”

Tomlin also said he did look at safety issues practicing after the rain, saying turf fields are commonplace and most of the players play on those fields in high school.

A Number Miss Practice

Good injury news from the Steelers head coach, Tomlin said guys are getting healthy, however a number were absent from practice today.  Antonio Brown went through a few individual drills, but not full workouts.  Stephon Tuitt was sick as T.J. Watt, Vance McDonald and Bud Dupree continue to miss.  Ben Roethlisberger, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Marcus Allen, Anthony Chickillo, James Conner and Stevan Ridley all missed Monday.

Tomlin said he’d have further updates Tuesday morning as he will also preview the game with Green Bay.
