PITTSBURGH (93.7 the Fan) – Steelers defenders had a common theme after giving up a record-tying six touchdown passes to Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes in a 42-37 loss.  Many of them involved the word “ass” and the word “kick”.

“We didn’t kick enough ass,” said defensive captain Cam Heyward.  “As simple as that, I’m not going to sit here and sugar-coat it.  As a leader, I have to be better.  I look forward to practice.

“We got our ass kicked,” said corner Coty Sensabaugh.  “We can go and look at the film and see exactly what happened, but they just kicked our ass honestly.  We just have to play better if we want to give this team a chance to win.”

“We gotta execute; that's what it comes down to,” said linebacker Jon Bostic. “Regardless of what's going on here and there, at the end of the day there are too many missed tackles, too many penalties, too many of those and you're not going to give yourself a chance to win."

"A couple of times, they came out with a heavy tendency then broke the tendency by spreading the formation, but even then you have to stand up,” said linebacker Vince Williams.  “Football is a game of one-on-one's and you have to win those one-on-one's."

"We played bad," said safety Sean Davis.  "Kudos to them, but I like us over them.  Wake up call for the defense."

"It's not one specific thing," said safety Mike Hilton.  "It's a lot of different things.  it's just all-around communications as a defense.  We feel some of the plays they really didn't earn.  We just gave it to them."
