PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - While Steelers General Manager Kevin Colbert said he is disappointed that the Antonio Brown situation got to the point it did, the organization will only move the All-Pro wide receiver if it benefits the team.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday Colbert said they won’t dump Brown or release him and suggested that if a good trade cannot get done; Brown could be back in black and gold.

“The best thing to do is seek a trade and if we can, great and if we can’t then we’ll deal with that at that point but I don’t think any relationship is irreparable,” said Colbert.

Colbert said he is optimistic they will receive significant value in return and will not “devalue” Brown on the trade market.

“If someone has a sincere interest and they want to make a move, either a significant pick or set of picks or significant player plus picks and we think it will benefit the Pittsburgh Steelers in the long run then we’re all in. If not, then we’ll make that decision at that point,” said Colbert.

Colbert also did not rule out trading Brown to a competitor/rival if that team makes a significantly better offer and that Brown's $2.5 million roster bonus due March 17th won’t affect when he is traded.

Colbert  said when he met with Brown Tuesday he explained what he meant as a player to the organization.

“The point we made to Antonio is ‘look we love you as a player, we thank you for what you did for us for the past nine year, I’m disappointed we didn’t’ get you a Super Bowl and I still think you’re a Hall of Fame candidate and I’m disappointed that that may not happen with us’”, said Colbert.

Colbert added he and the Steelers have to do a better job educating/controlling players on social media, starting when they're younger.
