PITTSBURGH (93.7 the Fan) – Wednesday afternoon the Steelers will be dispersing.  Once that last practice ends, parts of the South Side may resemble the last day of school with cars quickly heading out in all directions during the team's weekend off.

Some players will spend time with their family, some will go back to their hometowns, maybe go to see their old college play.  Meanwhile, Steelers corner Joe Haden will hang with the greatest basketball player on earth, he’s heading to Los Angeles to watch LeBron James play for the Lakers.

Haden said the two are friends as they got to know each other when he played for the Browns, as Haden was often at Cavaliers basketball games.

“It’s been a blessing just knowing him,” Haden said of James.  “I’ve been a big fan of him so long and then when I was in Cleveland, just to be with him and talk to him.  It’s just been special.”

Haden said he really admires the way LeBron lives his life.

“For him to be able to be in the spotlight like this and really never have anything really bad come out, he’s been a model athlete,” Haden said.  “You want people to look up to him when they have role models, doing stuff the right way.  He’s very charitable, taking care of people and at the same time having a great time doing it.”

LeBron James watches Steelers games according to Haden, but does the Ohio native own a Steelers jersey?

“I don’t think so,” Haden said.  “I’m going to get him a 23 (Steelers) jersey.  I should bring one to him, that’s what I’m going to do.”

Social media awaits.
