PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - Steelers linebacker T.J. Watt has once again been named the AFC Player of the week.

Watt had 8 tackles along with 3 sacks and a forced fumble on Sunday to help the Steelers roll to a 41-17 win against the Atlanta Falcons.

The Steelers defensive effort on Sunday was the team’s best effort so far in 2018.

“It means a lot. It’s a team stat I think because the (defensive backs) did an excellent job on the back end,” said Watt. “The linebackers did a great job in blitzing and in coverage . . . so it’s never an individual statistic and it’s great to get the accolated but . . . the award doesn’t really mean that much.”

Watt was also named AFC player of the week back on week 1. Watt also is tied for most sacks in the league with six. He shares it with Cincinnati’s Geno Atkins and his brother Houston star J.J. Watt.

T.J. Watt says it’s only week 5 so it doesn’t really mean anything but his mom is probably enjoying it.

“She’ll take a picture of it and our names are next to each other it will be all cool for her . . . it’s cool to look at in the future I guess.”
