Three Panthers Honored For UCF Performance

Pitt put an end to UCF's 28-game regular season winning streak.

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - Three Pitt football players have been named as ACC Players of the week.

Panthers Kenny Pickett is the Quarterback of the Week, Bryce Hargrove is the Offensive Lineman of the Week and Aaron Matthews is the Specialist of the week.

Pitt beat #15 UCF 35-34 to give the Knights their first loss in 28 straight regular season games.

Pickett threw for 224 yards and a touchdown, rushed for 61 yards and caught a three-yard touchdown pass from Mathews to seal the victory for the Panthers.

Pickett was named to the Davey O’Brien Award’s “Great 8” for his game against UCF.

Mathews, in addition to the winning touchdown pass blocked a punt that was returned for an 18-yard touchdown by Wendell Davis and had a 24-yard reception.

Mathews was also named to the Paul Hornug Award Honor Roll for his efforts against UCF.

The 2-2 Panthers welcome 3-1 Delaware to Heinz Field this Saturday.
