Pittsburgh (93.7 The Fan) - If the Penguins are going to overcome a two games to one deficit to the Capitals, they likely will need more production from their bottom line players.

Enter center Derick Brassard.

A proven playoff performer with the Ottawa Senators and New York Rangers, Brassard has produced one goal and two assists in his ten playoff games this spring.  In Tuesday's game three, he began on the fourth line.

"It's time right now, and I just have to try to play better and play harder," Brassard said following Thursday's morning skate.

He believes he's close to breaking out, but also admits to feeling pressure to produce offensively.

"The last couple games I had some looks and we had some chances.  If one goes in, I think it can give us confidence as a line, as a player. There's always pressure and everyone has some in this dressing room at this time of the year.  You want to play well for the team and if you can chip in offensively, obviously it's going to help the team.  That's what you want as a player."

And some puck luck wouldn't hurt.

"It's going to come. There's some times the puck goes in and some times you wonder as a player what you have to do to score goals.  You just have to compete as hard as you can."

Coach Mike Sullivan remains hopeful Brassard snaps out of his slump.

"We're trying to put him in a position where he can play to his strengths," Sullivan said Thursday morning. "We're trying to surround him with people that we think can help him play to his strengths, and that process continues."
