PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - The reigning AFC Defensive Player of the Week has been fined for one of the plays in the game against Atlanta.

Steelers linebacker T.J. Watt was docked over $20,000 by the NFL Friday for grazing the knee area of Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan.

Watt did get flagged for a personal foul, even though it appeared Ryan was barely touched.

It’s one of the calls that Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin called “a joke” after the game and eventually led to his 20,000 fine for speaking about the officials.

His brother, J.J. Watt of the Houston Texans, tweeted "that is insanity".

“Man, it’s crazy,” linebacker Vince Williams told 93.7 the Fan's Eric Hagman.  “I don’t know what to say about that.  That’s just the rules right now, it’s the climate.”

Watt did not speak to reporters, but was visibly upset after receiving the news.
