PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - Steelers linebacker T.J. Watt will be working in conjunction with 412 Food Rescue on Monday, November 11 to help organize food donations for four different community centers.

Watt will visit the Glen Hazel Gymnasium, Glen Hazel High Rise, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, and the Latino Community Center Hazelwood AIU to hand out food to the communities.

The Latino Community Center fosters numerous services for families with younger children and helps offer basic economic needs.

412 helps serve an estimated 30 families per month, 110 of which are from the Hazelwood area.

412 Food Rescue has been active for the last four years to reduce food waste and hunger rates.

One in nine goes hungry, while 40% of food produced in the U.S. is thrown out.

412 Food Rescue has prevented 7.5 million pounds of food from being discarded into landfills, which serves communities who benefit from the extra food and the environment from a little less refuse.
