WASHINGTON, PA (93.7 The Fan) – The field at Wild Things Park in Washington, PA will be renamed this year.

“It’s About the Warrior Field” is the result of a partnership announced Wednesday between the Washington Wild Things Frontier League baseball team and the It’s About The Warrior Foundation (IATW), a post-9/11 veterans organization.

IATWF was created in 2012 to assist and empower all Tri-State area, post-9/11 veterans and their families with its various programs.

Sam Johnson is a veteran and member of IATW’s hockey team. He says the new field name will help support all veterans.

“This partnership will broadcast to veterans out there in southwest Pennsylvania, in the Ohio area and everywhere else when they drive by that stadium that there are others out there that you can share those experiences with,” Johnson said. “So you can’t find a better way to advertise to veterans that there’s an organization that can help you.”

The partnership between the Wild Things and IATWF is not exclusive to just the field’s dedication, but also involves charitable donations through two separate “Salute to Service” nights.

The Wild Things will also offer $8 tickets and other in-game promotions for military members and veterans. More information is available here.
