JuJu hits Burfict

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan)- In recent years, we've seen this Steelers-Bengals rivalry really turn nasty.

One could argue that the main culprit of that has been Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict, who has a knack for getting himself in trouble for hits that are not above board. So, will things be cleaned up Sunday?

Steelers guard Ramon Foster...who joined The Fan Morning Show in his weekly spot on Tuesdays at 8 am...can only be optimistic.

"I hope, but you just never know," said Foster. "We've just got to kind of dip our toes into the thing and see how it goes. I know he's coming back from a suspension. I know the play from last year, whatever the case may be. But, I'm hoping with the climate of the way the game is being reffed right now, the rules that have been in place, that both sides just kind of sit back and play football."

"Cincinnati's at a point right now where they're leading our division. They also just have some really good players and they have a chance this year to really make a push. Our goal [as] the Pittsburgh Steelers: play football. We're going into a hostile environment. We'll do our job as far as just keeping it all legal and simply playing the game of football the way it's supposed to be played."

Ramon isn't quite ready to say these games are more violent than other games on the schedule, though.

"Recent history it was been, but I don't know [if it's more violent than other games]. To me, it's always going to be a physical game anyway. I can't say it's going to be that type of game with the climate of everything in the league right now so it's almost like it's just a 'wait and see.'"

Last season, JuJu Smith-Schuster laid a huge hit on Burfict in the middle of the field, giving him a concussion. Will Burfict be looking to get some payback on Sunday?

"Most time a guy might have a vendetta if something like that happens but, you just gotta kinda chalk that up to football. Everybody get's 'got' at some point. Whether you're getting somebody or somebody is getting you back. To say somebody is looking for it, that would be kind of terrible but if you're willing to risk a fine or suspension or whatever the case may be to get some somebody back on a football play then have at it. In their position, leading our division, I would think their mentality is 'don't do anything to hurt our momentum.'"
