The past three four-game series have not gone well for the Pirates, as they sport a combined record of 1-11 in their four-gamers against Philadelphia, Washington and San Diego.

After winning the first game against San Diego on Thursday, the Bucs improved to 26-17 and owned a half game lead on Milwaukee for the top spot in the NL Central. Three days, three games and three losses later and the Pirates are 26-20 and in fourth place in the division, albeit just a game and a half back of the Brewers.

After seeing the Bucs drop the last three games against a subpar Padres team, The Fan Morning Show wondered if we will see the Pirates on top of the division again this season. This question is compounded by the fact that the next 13 games are against divisional opponents in the Reds, Cardinals and Cubs.

The guys went back and forth on it and it was also the subject of the daily Twitter poll. The results leaned slightly toward "No" at around 55%.

Jim Colony said that the key is doing well in Cincinnati during this next series that starts Tuesday. If they do that, they will sneak back up there for a day or two. But after that, Jim thinks they fall back and never regain possession of it again.

Colin pointed out that it's still early and just past the quarter pole of the season, but it felt like a lot of air was left out of the balloon with these three losses. He says they will likely get back up there but he has serious concerns about Felipe Vazquez. He said that he isn't quite the same closer as last season and it worries him that all of his save opportunites have you on the edge of your seat whereas before he was just lights out.

Both men agreed that when the Pirates have reached points like this in the season, they've started to win games again so doubting them might not be the best idea right now.

Do you foresee more time on top of the division or is this the beginning of the fall?
