Williams Pitches Six Scoreless, Drives In Two Runs In Victory

The Pirates Pitcher Joined Kraig Riley and Jack Zduriencik On Fan Reaction After The Game

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - Pirates Starting Pitcher Trevor Williams pitched 6 scoreless innings, striking out six to pick up right where he left off at the end of last season as the Pirates defeat the Reds 5-0 Sunday afternoon.

Williams joined Kraig Riley and Jack Zduriencik on Fan Reaction after the game and when asked how he felt about his performance seeming to pick off right where he left off?

"It was great," said Williams. "I was excited to pick up where we left off and get our first win of the season going into the home opener tomorrow."

He was thankful for Jameson Taillon's outing on Wednesday for giving him a good look against a new look Reds lineup and he carried over the gameplan from Wednesday to his outing on Sunday.

Williams added a new pitch to his repertoire for this season and he talked about what it's like having the curveball to use when needed.

"It's a good weapon, it's something that we worked on in Spring Training," said Williams. "I'm now comfortable with it to throw it in any situation and we got a big out (this afternoon)."

Williams had himself an impressive day on the mound, but he was also able to help himself out at the plate by driving in a couple runs.

"It was great to help out on the offensive side as well," said Williams. "I blacked out, so I don't know what happened. I'm going to have to watch some replays to see what happened."

Williams wraps up his conversation with Kraig Riley and Jack Zduriencik about how he will work on carrying over his success from last season into this season.
