"I'm just thankful to be back out there, thankful to be coming off the mound healthy today," said Williams. "I learned a lot about myself (while on the IL) and learned a lot about our team to, we had a lot of guys that stepped up and you could tell tonight the guys that stepped up."

Williams ran into some trouble in the 3rd inning when Detroit took a 7-1 lead, but he settled down to retire the next 9 consecutive batters to keep the deficit at 6.

"Knowing I couldn't let it get too out of hand, six runs is a big deficit," said Williams. "I'm thankful for our guys to pick me up tonight...they picked me up not only offense, but those final three innings for me we had some big plays made behind me as well."

Williams talked about how Wednesday night could be a turning point for this team and how it was important for him to finish his last three innings strong looking ahead to his next start.

Since Bryan Reynolds got the call up a couple months ago, Williams has been impressed at what he has been able to provide to this team.

"What Bryan Reynolds is doing right now is extremely impressive," said Williams. "I hope a lot more eyes are being opened to who he is as a ballplayer, who he is as a person because it's really, really impressive and I hope he gets the attention that he deserves."

As more and more people locally start to realize the type of player that Reynolds is, Williams hopes that nationally that attention for him won't be far behind.

"He's been doing nothing but impressing Pirates and guys that he's been playing against," said Williams. "But, I think it's time for the national media to pay attention to what Bryan Reynolds is doing."

Reynolds' approach to the game at the plate and in the field and how his approach doesn't waver no matter what happens in a game is what impresses Williams the most about him.

Williams also discusses the performance of the bullpen the past few games, especially from Richard Rodriguez and Francisco Liriano.  He also discusses how much fun it has been to be able watch this offense the past month and a half and how as a pitcher you don't want to, and hate to, waste offensive performances like they have gotten a lot lately.
