Cale Berger and Chris Peak of Panther-Lair.com recap Pitt's loss to Virginia, preview Saturday's matchup with Ohio and check in with Jeff Capel and Pitt hoops on the recruiting trail.

Chris believes that quarterback Kenny Pickett needs to play better going forward for the Panthers this season.

Pickett went 21 of 41 for 185 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions in the loss to Virginia.

While Pickett and the offense were able to find a rhythm in the second quarter, he looked inaccurate and uncomfortable throughout the game.

While Cale agrees, he thinks that there additional factors that led to Pitt's offensive struggles.

Although there were missed throws, Pitt wide receivers and tight ends had multiple drops last Saturday, including a critical one on a deep ball from Pickett to Taysir Mack.

Pickett was also under pressure from a disruptive Virginia pass rush all night, as Pitt breaks in four new starters on the offensive line and two new running backs.

In addition, Cale and Chris recognize that Pitt will need to be more balanced on offense moving forward.

The Panthers ran the ball just 30 times against the Cavaliers, with 12 of those carries coming from the quarterback.

Pitt's starting tandem at running back carried the ball just 15 times last week.

The starting duo of Qadree Ollison and Darrin Hall ran the ball an average of 24 times per game last season.

Cale is excited to see the battle between Ohio quarterback Nathan Rourke and the Pitt defensive backs on Saturday.

Pitt's secondary played well against Virginia, but there will be even more pressure on them going forward as the Panthers lost another defensive lineman with the season-ending injury to defensive tackle Keyshon Camp.

In recruiting news, the Pitt basketball program hosted some key targets in the 2020 class, including 4-star forward Earl Timberlake and 4-star center Clifford Omoruyi. Pitt also found itself in the top-6 of 2020 First Love guard D.J. Gordon.
