Reds' Derek Dietrich Takes A Long Time To Admire Another Home Run

Bob Walk says it 'would've got ugly' if he was on the mound Monday night

CINCINNATI (93.7 The Fan) - It looks like the bad blood between the Pirates and Reds isn’t going away anytime soon.

Derek Dietrich and Yasiel Puig hit back to back home runs off Alex McRae in the 7th.

Dietrich, who infuriated the Pirates with his showboating following home runs earlier in the season, admired this blast for an extended time, while Puig seemed to make a statement by sprinting around the bases.

You’ll recall these two were heavily involved when the benches cleared April 7 at PNC Park after Chris Acher threw behind Dietrich.  Archer ended up getting suspended.

This much is clear.  Bob Walk on AT&T SportsNet was none too thrilled with Dietrich’s antics last night,

“If I would’ve been out on the mound, things would’ve got ugly after that,” said Walk.

On the radio side broadcaster John Wehner said, “I just don’t like him, just because of that . . . I just don’t like it, it just looks bad.”

Wehner continued during his weekly hit on The Fan Morning Show Tuesday.

"I can't stand it. I just don't see why, I don't understand why you have to do that. It's different if you're a Hall of Fame player, you're a 60 homer guy, you're an established guy. Nobody ever heard of him before this year. I heard of him because of his grandfather who used to be a minor league coach for the Pirates. He was the sweetest guy in the world. He's rolling in his grave every time this guy hits a home run."
