It was not long ago that Penguins rookie goalie Casey DeSmith was a little-used back-up in the ECHL but, thanks to a series of injuries that trickled down from Pittsburgh through Wilkes-Barre-Scranton to Wheeling, DeSmith finallly got his chances and has certainly made the most of them.  Now, at the old-for-a-rookie age of 26 as an undrafted free agent from New Hampshire, DeSmith is in the NHL playoffs - for the 2-time defending Stanley Cup champs.
